Employment Equity

When it comes to Employment Equity, you are judged on who stays, not who arrives.

The first six months are where the appointment you fought for has the propensity to come apart. The person stops speaking up. Then stops being asked. Then starts looking. Their manager sees none of it, because nothing has visibly gone wrong. By the time anyone knows, the resignation is in and you are back at the shortlist.

Accolgo is built to catch that while the person is still in the building. It asks them, and their manager, a few short questions each week, and tells you when the two answers stop matching.

Accolgo watches for the slow version. Someone who never scores badly and never has a bad week, but has quietly drifted since the month they joined, is invisible to anything comparing this week with last week. That person is the one you lose, and they are now the one we look hardest for.

What this is not

Accolgo does not touch your compliance.

It does not file reports, it does not assess your position, it does not complete your annual return and it will not move a scorecard. You have people for that and they are better at it than any software.

It does one thing. It helps you keep the appointments your plan depends on, which is the half of the equation no reporting system touches.

What one lost starter costs

R355 000

On a R450 000 package: recruitment, onboarding and kit, training time, lost productivity while they ramp up, the empty seat, manager time, and what leaves with them. It comes to 79% of annual salary, kept deliberately below the range usually quoted so it survives your finance director rather than impressing them.

It is rarely one. Seven in a year is R2.5 million, spent on a profile that finishes the year where it started.

Use your own numbers

The calculator takes your salary bands, your intake and your own early attrition rate, and works in rand. It is free, it needs no login, and the model is shown in full rather than hidden behind a total.

POPIA

The paperwork is already on the site.

Most suppliers send you an operator agreement once you have committed to a conversation. Ours is published, along with the retention schedule and the security position, so your information officer can read it before you have spoken to anybody.

Your employees’ answers are stored in London, not South Africa. POPIA allows that where the receiving country protects the information to a standard comparable with POPIA and there is a written agreement in place. Both apply here, and the agreement says so in terms rather than leaving you to take it on trust.
